Adhesive combed out, planks clicked home, a finished floor running clean to the wall. This is the standard every quote is written against.
Gulf humidity swings across the year here, and wood moves with it. The same species that lies flat in a dry climate can cup, gap or crown once it settles into a Louisiana summer.
Older homes on this coast sit raised on piers above a ventilated crawl space. The wood subfloor breathes with the season, and the finish on top has to move with it.
Newer building further out is often laid straight onto a concrete slab. There the moisture does not come from a crawl space, it rises through the slab itself.
Engineered wood is bonded in layers that hold their shape through humidity better than solid boards. For a wet room or a garage, a waterproof or resin system is better again, and we will say which one suits the space before anything is ordered.

Most of the work that decides how a floor lasts happens before anyone sees it. Here is what the stages actually look like up close.
We are with a commercial floor through every phase, from choosing the material and supplies to the installation and the maintenance that follows.
We cover all four on commercial floors. A building does not need a different contractor for the fit-out and for the repair three years later.
A clinic corridor, a restaurant kitchen and a parking garage deck all take different traffic and different cleaning. The material is picked for the room, not the catalog.
Commercial slabs are rarely either one. Leveling and moisture treatment come first, whatever material is going on top, because an untreated slab shows through within a season.

Four questions worth settling before you pick a material. They decide more about how the floor ages than the color does.
A raised wood subfloor and a concrete slab behave differently, and they rule different materials in and out. Settle this first, because everything else follows from it.
A bathroom, a laundry and a front hall in hurricane season are all wet rooms. Water resistant and waterproof are not the same rating, and the difference shows up years later.
Leveling, moisture treatment and removing the old floor are real line items. A quote that leaves them out is not cheaper, it is unfinished.
Grout lines, a wood finish and a resin surface each want different upkeep. Choose the one that matches the cleaning you will genuinely do.

The cost depends on the material, the square footage and the condition of the subfloor underneath. The only way to get a real number is to have the rooms measured in person, which is why our estimate and consultation are free and the quote is written.
Often yes, but not always, and never without testing first. Vapor moves up through a slab, so the concrete has to be checked for moisture and the right underlay or engineered product specified. Many slab-built homes in Metairie and on the North Shore are better served by engineered wood, luxury vinyl plank or a waterproof system.
Waterproof systems, luxury vinyl plank, tile, and resin floors such as epoxy and flake handle moisture best. Solid hardwood can work well in a raised pier-and-beam house with a ventilated crawl space, provided the boards are acclimated properly before they go down.
Yes. We repair and restore existing floors, which covers replacing damaged boards, sanding and refinishing, and putting right sections that have failed.
It depends on the system and the size of the job. Wood usually needs time to acclimate before installation begins, and resin floors need cure time between coats. The free consultation is where you get the timeline for your own job.
If the boards are sound and thick enough to take another sanding, refinishing is usually the better value. If boards are cupped, rotted or have been sanded down too far already, replacement is the honest answer. We will tell you which one you are looking at when we see the floor.
